From the back cover: In the 1960's a trend developed whereby Country Girl singers accounted for a much greater proportion of the Country record hits. Many great new Country stars emerged as a result.

Included in this album are 12 of the greatest girl singers in the Country Music field who have helped to fashion Country Music history in recent years. Contractual commitments made it impossible to include recordings  by Kitty Wells and Jean Shepard, but acknowledgement is made to their important contribution.

This album includes Just A Closer Walk by Patsy Cline, and Big Silver Tears by Texas Ruby, two of the greatest Country Girl vocalists who perished in tragic accidents in the spring of 1963. Although Patsy and Texas Ruby are no longer with us, their music will live and will continue to entertain Country Music fans throughout the world.
