From the back cover: Introducing The Carr Twins who have been on good terms with luck and success practically since their birth 23 years ago on Christmas Day.
They finished high school at 16 and entered The University of Chile where Carlos studied Medicine and Juan, Law. They left after 2 years to concentrate on their singing career before moving to Argentina and joining the popular T.V. show "The Show Of Stars" for 2 years. This exposure brought many offers for night club and college appearances. They traveled throughout South America and appeared with such stars as Trini Lopez, Nancy Wilson, Neil Sedaka, Paul Anka, Van Johnson, Bobby Ryell, Chubby Checker, George Maharis, Brenda Lee and Charles Anzavour before leaving their parents and South America to branch out on their own in the United States.
Although, Juan and Carlos spend most of their time performing in night clubs, writing songs and preparing for recording sessions, they also like to add to their enormous collection of sweaters (each has over 100 of different colors and styles.)
ABOUT THIS ALBUM...
Here is the result of hundreds of hours of work choosing material, rehearsing many days and sometimes nights until sunrise, and recording under normal as well as very difficult circumstances. (I remember one series of sessions where the air conditioning unit in the studio was "out for repair" and we found ourselves working in 90 degrees for three days)... Juan and Carlos never complained – the tiring and adverse conditions only seemed to make them work even harder... The end result is noticeable in Carlos's superb Spanish translations and in both their "soulful" performances... Through all these hours of working together I gained the utmost respect and admiration for Juan and Carlos who never ceased to amaze me with their manners and to impress me with their desire to improve their already very pleasing sound...
SIDE ONE...
"Mairzy Doats" (La Ballena Nena)... We all had fun with this tongue twister. We were so pleased with our unique version of the Bing Crosby oldie, that it is one side of the boys' latest singles... And listen carefully to:
"Until It's Time For You To Go" (Añoraras Lo Que Fui Yo)... The very pretty but sad Buffy Saint Marie standard which says almost in prayer form. "If you leave me you may find what you want, your freedom and your solitude, but when you look again for a true love you will surely miss the love I had for you." This is one of my favorites by Juan and Carlos especialy due to the sensitivity of their performance.
On SIDE TWO make a special note of:
"Younger Girl" (Chica Ideal) . . . The moment you meet this girl you'll know she is the means to your happiness, and once you meet her you'll never forget her. Here are Juan and Carlos at their finest as they sing with happy hearts...
"Lonely Atmosphere" (No Me Dejes Asi)... Have you ever been inside a lonely room with the 4 walls your only companion? While we were recording this Leka-Pinz classic Juan and Carlos got so deeply into interpetation of this sad lyric that I detected a few tears in their voices. Perhaps you may have one or two (as I did) when you listen...
"Once Was"... Written by myself and my dear friend Howard Boggess. This is the only song on our album sung in English. It tells of a past love.
"I know not to ever look back at what we had, for what we had are now yesterdays... Love's gone away...
Here you have a perfect blend of 12 top hits, the finest musicians on the East Coast and two very talented, handsome gentlemen from South America... I thoroughly enjoyed working with, and befriending Juan and Carlos - Now it's your turn.
