RCA Victor LPT 3044

RCA 10 inch.

From the back cover: The influence of American musical styles abroad is increasing yearly. Contemporary popular and light classical works from this country are the inspiration of listeners and creative musicians the world over. Among the latter, a most skilled arranger in the American idiom is Italy's famed conductor, Dino Olivieri.

An international figure, Olivieri was once offered an associate conductorship at the Metropolitan Opera. He chose to remain in Milan however, where he became artistic director of "La Voce del Padrone" – His Master's Voice, records. Also vitally interested in composition, he conducted, at nineteen, an original one-act opera which was given with Leoncavallo's Pagliacci and soon afterward was engaged as assistant maestro of lyrical and chamber music by the Italian Radio.

And So To Bed
Michael Antoine And His Orchestra
RCA Victor LPM-1285

An obscure lounge piano artist, backed mostly by strings, renders quiet and tasteful arrangements. There are no notes on the back cover that help us with who Antoine was as an artist.

You'll find a total budget and not so engaging assemblage of tracks inside this pretty awesome Atomic Age jacket. In fact, so little attention was paid to the material that a number of the song titles found on the label are incorrect.

William Tell Overture

Unearthed for the fab budget cover.

Sock It To Me!

Sock Me Your Love - Little Joe Curtis
Sockerina - Paul Griffin
Sock It To Me!
The Now Generation
Somerset SF-308000
1968

Here we have a decent D. L. Miller studio project. It seems that whenever Miller credits himself on an album, the product is above average for his label. Each track is credited to an artist including Little Joe Curtis, Paul Griffin and Donnie Burks. The majority of the tracks feature 60s organ groove.

Perez Prado - And His Famous Latin Orchestra

Uncredited Track
Maria
Perez Prado And His Famous Latin Orchestra
French Latin Orchestra
Ultraphonic 50323

That's Prado sandwiched between two fine models on the cover of this budget Ultraphonic release.

Apparently Ultraphonic had, on hand, about four Prado tracks and the rest of the album was filler. It is fairly easy to determine which tracks are "French Latin Orchestra" (the B side). There are a few tracks on the A side that are not credited on the cover or label. I selected one of those tracks to present as the sample above because the Prado tracks can be found online elsewhere. I also selected one of the "French Latin" tracks for your enjoyment.

Boozers And Losers - Claire Hogan

Boozers And Losers
Boozers And Losers
Claire Hogan
Produced and Conceived by Cy Coleman
MGM Records SE-4501

Hogan's is a unique club/lounge singer. Her vocals are blended with the bright Ellis pop flavored arrangements to make a surprise album find for me. Engaging sound all the way through.

From the back cover: After work my trio and I (Cy Coleman) would go over to an after-hours place called "The Black Magic Room" to hear a singer with an unusual style call Claire Hogan.

Also from the back cover: I (Cy Coleman) recalled a superb mood album I had heard many years back by Bille Holiday called "Lady In Satin" which had tasteful arrangements by Ray Ellis and the right feel for our project. I called Ray, he came over, got excited and started scoring.
