Lodestar
Modern Sound MS 537
Selections from Mary Poppins? Well... MS couldn't afford to fill out the entire record with actual Mary Poppin songs so they threw in a few lounge tunes and a surf-like track titled Lodestar... what?
It's Super-Cali-Fragil-Istic-Expi-Ali-Docious!
Bizarre to have a tune like this on a record of this sort! Were the Mary Poppins ones done Surf Rock style, too?
ReplyDeleteNo... just the one. There were a few "lounge" sounding tracks. Modern Sound did this sort of thing... filled out an album with whatever...
ReplyDeleteahem ... just a minor niggle or two if i may, kind sir. this here track is named 'Lodestar' in the download, but is titled 'Speaking Of Broken Hearts' on your blogpage. which one is correct? i realize it's a stupid question, but being the nerd that i am, i find pleasure in asking these.
ReplyDeletesecondly (and please, please, please don't take this as a criticism) ... is there a benefit to encoding mp3's to a bitrate of 192kbps and a frequency of 32000Hz? it's a bit puzzling, i must say - why not use the more common 44100?
ah well, the stuff you post is like a thick slice of ham (and i absolutely lurrrve my bit o'ham) : it's beefy, yet it melts on the tongue :-)
Thanks! Lodestar it is. Apparently there was another track that I considered before Lodestar, which was the last track on the album. I'm not sure why I originally selected 192... guess I didn't know that there was a standard. I'll see about switching the rate.
