Million Dollar Motion Picture Themes - Richard Hayman

Theme From The Exorcist
Million Dollar Motion Picture Themes
Richard Hayman And His Orchestra
Musicor Records MS 3256X
1974

One of my favorite Hayman albums is an exotica LP titled Voodoo! (Mercury SR 60147 - 1959).

Hayman made many more conservative sounding albums after Voodoo! I took the chance on this album because of the interesting song titles such as The Exorcist, Theme from Serpico and Theme From 2001 Space Odyssey.

This set is a fun and funky 70s light pop LP. Hayman's harmonica solos work on some tracks like the "harpsichord" sound you often hear during this period. Hayman is also credited on the back cover for playing The Conn Electronic Organ.

  1. That was interesting.

First impression: Hayman doesn't understand Tubular Bells; he's adding melody that isn't in the Mike Oldfield original.

Second impression: Hayman has created a Pop Tubular Bells.

Then, I liked it a lot.
