From the back cover: Lion Records, a product of M-G-M Records takes pride in presenting this great album collection of memorable recordings by two of America's finest singers: Billy Eckstine and Sarah Vaughan.

Billy and Sarah have long been friends and have often appeared together. In fact, Sarah's first professional appearances were made in company with Billy. It all began when Sarah, whose singing experience to date had been limited to a church choir in her native Newark, N. J., entered an amateur contest at New York's Apollo Theatre. Her first prize award was a week's engagement at the entertainment center as guest vocalist with the band at the time was Billy Eckstine, who had just helped Hines rack up a big record hit in "I Got It Bad And That Ain't Good". Sarah made such a fine impression during her guesting stint that Hines asked her to join the aggregation permanently. For quite a while after that Billy and Sarah helped Hines make beautiful music.
Later, Billy struck out on his own to form a band which enjoyed wide popularity in its time. Included in the instrumental set-up were such musicians as Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker – and,  what could be more appropriate? – Sarah Vaughan joined the crew to hold forth with Billy in the vocal spotlight. Shortly, it became evident that the pair must split and go their separate ways career-wise. Sarah was in great demand as a solo attraction. Billy and she parted professional company on the most pleasant of terms. Soon, Billy himself disbanded his orchestra to follow a purely vocal career.

The separate rises to fame and popularity of Bily and Sarah paralleled each other in extraordinary similar fashion. It wasn't long before each simultaneously was placing in the number one positions in all music popularity polls as top male and female vocalists. And, of course, in the case of both, the popularity has lasted!

Over the years since their early days together, Billy and Sarah have often appeared together publicly for old times' sake. When they do, their fans are in for a treat of some of the most fabulous music-making to be had in our time. Billy and Sarah's long time entertainment association is saluted in this album. Together, they perform four beloved standard songs. And, each is heard alone in four other songs. The result is an album collection which shines with the brilliance to stardust itself – an album collection you'll come to treasure!
