From the back cover: Eddie Fisher, who was born in Philadelphia, August 10, 1928, scored his first vocal triumph at the age of seven, when he won a contest competing against twelve girls.

At eight he won his first prize – a cake – on a children's amateur radio contest. As a boy he strengthened his voice by shouting wares from his father's fruit and vegetable truck as it meandered through the streets of Penn's city.

When he was fourteen, Eddie was singing on home-town radio stations for his carfare, and at eighteen he hit out for New York and the big try. His great day came, after three years of sporadic bookings, at the famous Grossinger's in the Catskill Mountains. Eddie Cantor, who was starring on the holiday bill, heard Fisher's rich lyric baritone and overwhelmed the youngster with the curly black hair by inviting him on a nation-wide tour.

Eddie started recording for RCA Victor in 1950 and soon smashed through with two hits, "Thinking Of You and Bring Back The Thrill. He was voted "Male Singer Of The Year" and "Discovery Of The Year," and returned triumphantly to the Paramount Theater in New York, where he had once been a bit singer.

Spring of 1951 saw him in the Army, and under Uncle Sam's sponsorship he had a smashing series of appearances throughout the United States, Hawaii, Korea, Japan and Europe.

Following two years' service, Eddie resumed his civilian career at the Paramount, April 10, 1953. All-time attendance records were set. While still there, he initiated his TV and radio shows for Coca-Cola. He interrupted this series after three shows to fly to London's Palladium to fulfill a previous commitment. A highlight of his visit to London was chatting with Princess Margaret Rose for fifteen minutes and dedicating the song Outside Of Heaven to her after she requested the number at a charity affair.

Although his recording history with RCA Victor covers a span of only a few years, he has already racked up four "million sellers" – Anytime (1951); I'm Walking Behind You (1953); Oh! My Pa-Pa (1953) and I Need You Now (1954). Many of his records barely missed the million mark, and every one of them has sold over 350,000 copies – a sales phenomenon that very few entertainers can match.

The love songs of Eddie has chosen for this album are tunes which have long been symbols of romance, but the freshness of Eddie's approach makes it seem as if they had been written especially for him.
