From the back cover: Jimmie Dodd, whose likeness appears on the reverse side of this album is known to tens of millions of young people around the globe. He is the gentleman who Walt Disney, one of the world's most astute businessmen, chose to head the Mickey Mouse Club. The success of that venture speaks for itself. This is the same Jimmie Dodd who wrote the familiar "M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E" March and has written a great number of other songs including the title song of this album. To list them would make this collection of hieroglyphics eligible for a "Book of The Month" selection.
He plays guitar. It's a guitar that sounds as charming as it is plaintive – as lonely as it is distinctive.
To the above, add a lifetime of show business and a repertoire of roundelays that run the gamut.
With the arranging skills of Jud De Naut, Pete King and the talent of Jimmy Dodd, you have an album that sings, swings, sighs and sobs and all at the same time too. That in itself is a neat trick.
Pick any one of the twelve songs in this collection which includes "Lonely Guitar," "What Happened To Yesterday," "A Bluebird Is Singing' The Blues," which was written and composed by Jimmie and there'll be no doubt in your mind after you've heard them that the original intent of the writers means more when Jimmie Dodd performs them.
We're sure you'll like the "new" Jimmie Dodd.
