For My True Love - Laurindo Almedia and Salli Terri

Lass From The Low Countree
For My True Love
Laurindo Almeida, Guitar
Salli Terri Mezzo Soprano
Martin Ruderman, Flute
Capitol Records SP8561
1958

The look of the cover art, graphically, seems ahead of its time. The set also plays like a later recording and sounds fresh today, due in part, to the excellent engineering. "Chamber concert" might suggest a "conservative" sounding set, but I found the play through light and almost "pop" at times. The album is a nice fit into The Atomic Attic collection.

From Billboard - November 17, 1958: An unusual group of Spanish, Italian, English and French pieces, beautifully played by the guitarist and Martin Ruderman on flute and sung excitingly by Miss Terri. Almeida adds a haunting lute solo. Charming cover drawing. The disk makes a satisfying chamber concert.
