Line Renaund's In Love

Teach Me French
Line Renaud's In Love
Love Songs In English by the International Star of Casino de Paris
A Production of Disques Line
Prepared for release in the U.S.A. by Bill Miller
Capitol Records ST 2963

From the back cover: The French love her as their most formidable super-star since Mistinguett, Piaf, and Chevalier.

From Spain to Pakistan to South Africa, her high-octane attractiveness as both entertainer and woman is a guarantee of standing-room-only audiences.

She is currently in Las Vegas, smashing existing records at the Dunes. Both Las Vegas journalists and the visiting press reported her opening in superlatives:

Sand Ralph Pearl in the Las Vegas Sun: "Line Renaud is easily the most exciting performer to come out of France in many years."

Columnist Paul Price in the same paper: "Line Renaud is absolutely sensational. Any able-bodied male who does not fall into instant love is an idiot."

Murray Hertz in the Las Vegas Review Journal: "Line Renaud made a triumphant return... the audience... whistled, howled, roared and cheered."

Joy Hamman in The Hollywood Reporter: "Line Renaud opened in a stunning new act that had an impact you can't believe."

Bill Willard in Variety: "Her ability to whip up a love affair with the audience in evident from her first notes."

And John L. Scott in the Los Angeles Times: "Miss Renaud... enchanted the capacity first-night audience."

This album is  Line Renaud's first recorded entirely in English. The selections include "If I Love" and "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You," two of the hits of her current "Casino de Paris" show. They include a total of ten of the great songs which her husband, songwriter Louis Gasté, has tailored especially to her talents, and with which she mesmerizes listeners around the world.

Here are the charm, the sexy, sultry warmth and magnetism of one of the  world's most exciting women.

Her songs are about love. Of what else would a Frenchwoman sing?

From the back cover: Hawaiian-born, he is the son of a Hawaiian-Chinese mother and an Irish-Swedish father. Ed won a piano scholarship in Junior High School in Hawaii, and appeared in many musical productions in preparatory school and in college. With the Honolulu Community Theatre he was seen in "Oklahoma!" and "Paint Your Wagon" and sang in local night clubs. Ed moved to the United States in 1955, winning a Rodgers and Hammerstein scholarship with the American Theatre Wing and soon thereafter appearing in a non-singing role in the short-lived musical "Shangri-La."

Returning to Hawaii to appear in concert with the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra, Ed as also engaged to sing the leading role in "Kiss Me Kate." After a long run at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel as featured soloist, he returned to the United States for motion picture work, but was at once called to New York for "Flower Drum Song." He remained with the productions throughout its long run in New York, and then went on tour. Ed made his most recent Broadway appearance in the musical "13 Daughters."

From the back cover: Please, don't play this album until you have read the following suggestions... Clear your mind of all the events and worries of the day. Tonight is going to be your night, the most special night of all. Draw the drapes... chill the wine... build a fire in the fireplace, a big one, for it's going to be a long, relaxing evening. After your bath... light the candles, open the bottle of wine... (notice how it sparkles in front of the burning hearth). Now, take this record, put it on your phonograph and settle down on the couch in front of the fireplace... the mood is set and you are one (yes... one) your way to your "SHANGRI-LA". – Notes by Candy Joan Leigh and Lois G.
