From the back cover: Harry Fields' background and training as a serious musician is very much in evidence in both his tasteful playing and writing in the field of popular music. A graduate of the famed Juilliard School of Music, Harry has devoted much of his career to concert work, and has appeared with such celebrated orchestras as the San Francisco and Portland Symphonies, and with the Los Angeles Philharmonic in concerts at the Hollywood Bowl. His popular and jazz training, however, was certainly not neglected, for he studied that phase of the piano with none other than the late Art Tatum, one of the all-time keyboard greats.
But it is as a teacher of the piano that Harry Fields is best known, and many of today's top performers owe a good portion of their success to Harry's expert instruction. To his well-known school of the piano in Los An- geles have come not only professional musi- cians but famous show business personali- ties as well, including Mickey Rooney, Mae West, Judy Canova, and many more. He is also author of an excellent piano instruction book entitled "A Field Day at the Piano."
