From the back cover: Pierre Gossez studied music at the Conservatory of Valenciennes, learned clarinet, bass, composition and piano, arrived in Pairs in 1945 at the age of seventeen, bought himself a saxophone and passionately devoted himself to jazz. He has played with many bands and small groups, and has made recordings with Duke Ellington, Lionel Hampton, Sammy Davis and Frank Sinatra. His Quintet is made up of himself with four others of like spirit and masterful instrumental style. For the acid test of how well the group can create in true jazz style, the listener might sample the blues in Toccatina.
