Geri Galian - His Piano And The Caballeros
Warner Bros Records W1229
1958
From the back cover: Pianist Geri Galian is one of the nation's leading exponents of Latin music. He was born in Texas while his father, an opera singer, was on a professional tour of this country. They soon returned to Mexico City and lived there until Geri was twelve years old. At that time he went to Spain to study at the Madrid Conservatory. He later came to the United States and began his career at Monte Proser's "La Conga" in Hollywood as leader of the band.
Since that time his intriguing Latin stylings have held sway in such plush nightspots as Ciro's, Mocambo, The Cocoanut Groove, The Beverly Hills Hotel and other top rooms. He and his orchestra have appeared in many motion pictures, the more recent being "Beau James" and "Marjorie Morningstar".

I have a 10" vinyl recording of Geri Galian on Astra Recording Co label. The A and B side is "El Milagro Del Tepeyac". Also included is a letter from Geri to my father where he talks about the record and a letter with typed lyrics sung by Rey Vasques. I believe my father knew him from WWII. The year the letter was written is 1949. I can't find much info on this record. Can you help?
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment. All I've got, at the moment, is the information presented above. I'll be sure to reply in the future should anything new come up. Cheers! Mark
