The Dagger Dance
Recorded In London
Capitol Records T10082
1957
From the back cover: Barber is a Londoner, a youthful musician with a classical background and a generous respect for the past. His ensemble is small, well-rehearsed and superbly recorded in E.M.I.'s renewed London studios, the virtual "home" of British and Continental high fidelity.
Barber himself is a versatile and soft-spoken chap who is alternately heard, on this long-playing presentation, as piano soloist, violin soloist, viola soloist and flute soloist. His ensemble comprises four violas, cello, piano and two woodwinds. There are no saxophones, no trumpets, no drums.
