Ke Kali Nei Au
This is a very interesting private press produced by Trade Wind Tours Of Hawaii.
This was an expensive and complex print project produced as a handout to folks who signed on to take a tour with Trade Wind. There are so many full color pages (30 single pages) that the pages had to be coil bound.
The record features The Hilo Hawaiians. Honeymoon In Hawaii (their first record).
The book goes into detailed covering the history geography of The Big Island and surrounding islands. There is a wonderful illustrated map of the island chain along with other illustrated maps featuring individual islands. The promotion finishes with a look at Pearl Harbor, The Polynesian Cultural Center, Honolulu and Paradise and Sea Life Park.
WOW that is a super high budget promo! I have Hilo Hawaiians records. Love this oddity, though! They sound, on this tune, like a Hawaiian version of the Platters
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info about this cool Hawaiian LP & book! I found a copy at a thrift shop in Florida... a long way from Hawaii, but not when you consider the exotica-lounge-tiki tourists that bounce from Florida to Hawaii and back... retirement cruises and all.
ReplyDeleteLongtime fan of Martin Denny and other exotica music, and now enjoying my adventure into collecting Hawaiian LPs, always picking them up fro the covers, but really taking the time now to listen to them too.
I dig your Atomic Attic and will explore it more in the new year!
