A Chance Is Gonna Come

A Blue Point Of View
Jimmy Witherspoon
A Concert House Production by Lew Futterman
Director of Engineering: Val Valentin
Cover Design: Acy Lehman
Verve V-5007
1966

From the back cover: Jimmy Witherspoon was born in Gurdon, Arkansas, and had no early musical training other than his singing with the Baptist Church choir. During World War II, Jimmy served in the U.S. Merchant Marine in the Pacific, and gained his first professional experience singing with the Teddy Weatherford band in Calcutta, India. In 1944, 'Spoon joined Jay McShann's band and toured with McShann for four years. When he went out on his own as a single, he had several pop records hits although he did not change his own style of singing to do so. His is a big sound, with mellowness and great depth of feeling. He broke up the Monterey Festival in 1959, and has been breaking things up ever since.

I Can't Give You Anything But Love
It's All Over But The Crying
There Is No Greater Love
A Change Is Gonna Come
Strangers In The Night
In The Dark
I Want A Girl
My Blue Tears
I Wonder
What Kind Of Fool Am I
If I Could Cry You Back Again
You Made Me Love You
