From Billboard - September 29, 1962: Freshness and originality always have abounded in Ray Coniff's use of orchestra and chorus, but in his new LP he has exceeded even his previous efforts. Orchestrations, use of wordless male and female quartets, intelligent and musically tasteful use of stereo, all characterized this LP that will grab the public's fancy in a big way. Several selections use Spanish rhythms with dramatic effect. Eddie Miller assists with three fine tenor solos, and Conniff himself solos on Clavietta into selections.

From the back cover: The scramble recorded here took place at the Davos Ranch in Woodbridge, New York and was promoted by the Davos Motorcycle Club. As at all AMA-sanctioned scrambles, a doctor and ambulance were standing by and all riders wore AMA-approved helmets. The doctors, by the way, are rarely needed. The riders are there for a serious purpose and they pursue it with intelligence and skill.

This recording is unique. No one has ever attempted to record the excitement of a Motorcycle Scramble up a ski slope for the simple reason that Scrambles have previously been held on somewhat tamer terrain. If, in listening to it, you decide to forsake the modes of transportation for the motor-driven two-wheeled kind, we won't blame you. The rabbits and the wood chucks might complain but don't listen to their chatter. From the back cover: One day back in 1945, when Stanley Kenton was looking for a new vocalist, he auditioned and hired blonde and blue-eyed Shirley Luster of Decatur, Illinois, and introduced her to the musical world as June Christy. Band dates, concerts and tours, splits and reunions followed in dizzying sequences as Stan and June pursued their ambitious careers. But until now, there has been no real opportunity to hear what these two sound like all alone – undistracted by hot and cool saxes, volcanic rhythm sections and stratospheric brass. This time, not even an arranger is around to complicate their lives. The total effect is unexpected, ingenious, and refreshing.

From Billboard - November 5, 1955: A great many pop as well as jazz buyers will be attracted to this distinctive program of intimate, jazz-oriented vocal stylings by the one-time Kenton vocalist. Kenton at the piano is the sole accompanist, and while he isn't the most fluid pianist, his Ellington-like chordings are sympathetic. The titles include fairly obscure show tines and off-beat ballads, and Miss Christy turns in the warmest work we have heard from her. The people who have been buying Chris Connor should take just as quickly to her model.
