Hawaii Goes Percussion

Swinging Palm Trees
Hawaii Goes Percussion
Cornet Records CXS 162

The title found on the back cover and label is Hawaiian Moonbeams. I might make the assumption that Coronet changed the name to "Percussion" to capitalize on the early 60s percussion trend. However, this isn't a percussion record.

There isn't a mention on the cover of who the artists are. The album focuses on someone who can rock the steel guitar.

I just found the same album with the "Moonbeams" title...

  1. How funny that it isn't at all a Percussion record!! GREAT guitar!!

  2. The artist/group is actually Luke Leilani & His Royal Hawaiians. The album has been released under 5 different titles and on 2 different labels. Spin-O-Rama and a later reissue on Coronet name the artist.

  3. Oops, the one Coronet reissue has the artist as Luke Leilani & His Royal Hawaiians. It's only the Spin-O-Rama label that lists Luke Leilani & His Hawaiian Rhythm. This was a common tactic from Coronet, Spin-O-Rama, Guest Star and some other generic labels.
